FAQ

  • Where can I find your art?

My art work is available through art galleries and interior design firms generally, with some of my pieces being available directly from my studio. For more information please go to my ‘Galleries’ tab in the menu or contact me directly by email: matt@modernmatt.com

  • Do you work on commissioned paintings?

Yes, I do take commissions. First, we would discuss the subject, style, and color scheme. Then if we are at an agreement on those terms, I take a 50% down payment and 50% payment on delivery of the painting.

  • Do you offer prints of your work?

At this time, no I do not offer prints of my work. Everything I make is 100% original work. Though sometimes I do consider limited edition etchings or prints that has yet to get on my ‘to do’ list.

  • How long does it take to make a painting?

Great question! Sometimes I get lucky, and it all just spills out on the canvas just right in a matter of days, but usually it takes a couple of weeks. Sometimes I work on a painting off and on over a year or more before its considered “finished”.

  • Do you only work in oil paints?

Almost exclusively. I used to work in only acrylics but one day fell in love with oil paints and never looked back. Occasionally I do still make a painting here and there out of acrylics though. Each painting is made with only one type of paint. I do not mix paint types at all.

  • Do you have a gallery?

Ha! No. My work is represented by art galleries, and I leave art gallery business to the professionals who run the galleries. My studio practice is enough of a handful for me to deal with and I gladly support art galleries overall.
